Take Yourself to the Top
by Laura Berman Fortgang

I was curious whether I would find anything new in ‘Take Yourself to the Top’ by Laura Berman Fortgang. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I learnt something new in every chapter. This is an inspirational book with a straightforward no-nonsense approach.

“I don’t mince words, I keep people from believing the nonsense they make up about themselves.” says the author

“My tone has been called ‘edgy’, and my clients say they pay me to tell them the truth”

Laura Berman Fortgang has a unique style, she tells it like it is and makes it clear that “if you think you are a victim, you’re not ready for what is ahead”. The book very much puts the onus on the reader to make the difference in their life, with tips at the end of each chapter to help take you forward.

We are advised to leave the excuses behind if we really want to change our circumstances and create a vision by developing our intuition. We then need to take responsibility for ensuring that the necessary actions to fulfil that vision are carried out.

“There is no need to reinvent yourself; just tune in to what is already there”.

The author also suggests putting in place boundaries to keep the negative influences of other people to a minimum. Decide what we will and will not tolerate and do not deviate from it.

Although written primarily as a self-help guide for business people, the techniques in this book can be easily translated to many areas of an individual’s personal life.

This book is an excellent tool for the individual who is ready to make a change in their life. I would recommend this book to anyone who has worked hard to develop a successful career, yet have now reached a stage in their life where they ask themself “There must be more to life than this?”.

“Design your life, and let no limits stop you. You’ll know when you have reached the top”.
